Fly Fishing Irigoyen

Far End Rivers Lodge is located in Tierra del Fuego Island, the southernmost province of Argentina.

The fishing is done 100% wading, using ARGO 6x6 ATV to move to the pools and between them.
Around 25 miles of private water access.
- SPECIES: Sea-run brown trout, brown trout, rainbow and Robalo (Sea Bass) at the sea & mouth of the
Irigoyen River.
- SEASON: Starts mid December, finishes the 3rd week of April.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Tierra del Fuego boasts some of the finest trout fishing in the world. Sea Run BrownTrout often exceed 20 lbs, particularly in rivers such as the Rio Grande, San Pablo, Lago Fagnano and others. Much of this water is private, catch and release and fly fishing only.
"Far End Lodge" is located in the Maria Luisa Estancia and within 3 or 3 and 1/2 hours drive from Ushuaia or Rio Grande Airport offering exclusive sea trout fishing on the the Irigoyen & Malengüena rivers plus their tributaries.
One of the most singular qualities that stands out of the Irigoyen´s river basin is the geographic and biological diversity: the mountains behold a delightful environment, with their forests of lengas and ñires, and the clear river flowing throughout the valleys. Both rivers holds abundant populations of sea run brown trout, an exclusive fishery in private waters where fly anglers will be able to enjoy one hand light rods, among a unique landscape, without suffering whips permanent of strong austral winds, (except in pools near the mouth, and in the sea itself), battling with enormous, wild, and fresh fish.

Climate

The climate is very inhospitable and umpredictable at the end of the world. January and February are the warmest months and the windiest.

Fly fishing Guides
Far End Rivers Guide staff is headed by Alex and Nicolas Trochine. They are young, professional, full time guides, with a vast experience in sea-trout and salmon fishing in different destinations. They speak English well and are able to assist with angling techniques as well as casting and tackle choices.

Gears

As the climate is very inhospitable and umpredictable, we suggest taking dequate clothing, warm waterproof and windproof jackets for from rain and wind protection, chest high waders with felt soles, polar fleece long underwader pants, rain jackets, polarized glasses, hat, sunscreen lotion.

Rivers
Located approximately 180KM south of the town of Rio Grande the Irigoyen River runs approximately 28 miles from sea to source. It starts as a mountain steam and then tumbles and winds its way through the wooded transition zone and finally ends meandering through several miles of low gradient tidal reaches. The Malenguena River has a completely different nature. Spring creek-like in nature, its amber waters flow at a much slower pace. Both rivers have substantial confirmed populations of sea run browns as well as smaller populations of resident browns. It is also rumored that the Irigoyen has a population of brooks and rainbows in pools and runs of its upper reaches.
